Many....and I am always game to start a new one as long as there are friends or family to enjoy them with.
Renzo Piano's Jean-Marie Tjibao cultural centre is beautiful not only in form and function but serves a wonderful purpose.
I am a firm believer that there needs to be a balance between work and play and many times there is a crossover. You can't have one without the other, otherwise they will both suffer and fall short of expectations. Work drives the desire to play and play helps the creative process leading to a more fruitful workday. Architecture has allowed us to have this balance in our lives.
Mechanical drafting in junior high led me to pursue architecture, little did I know that all my expectations of what a career in architecture could be, would be exceeded. The University of Arizona was instrumental in encouraging young potential architects to explore all aspects of design, construction and fabrication. This instilled a level of confidence that I could design anything and not just limit myself to the title of "Architect". I am not only fascinated with great architecture but all aspects of design. From architecture to mountain bikes, I believe good design can have a positive lasting impact, no matter how big or small. Our practice is different from most architecture firms in that both principals, Dan and I, have similar strengths and interests. We both came from design focused backgrounds along with the business experience, having a design practice in college. This has allowed us to design and manage multiple, successful projects while pushing each other to grow and evolve our practice.
