Hanging out w/ my family, running on the beach, going to the local cheese shop, playing golf, exploring our local community and doing arts & crafts w/ my son. One of my favorite things to do w/ my kiddo is to spend quite a bit of time building (all out of legos) cities, airports, communities, parking garages…etc…..then we both turn into human tornadoes and knock them down :)
I used to live in the New York area and enjoyed going to the MOMA quite often (modern art fan) that was designed by Yoshi Tanaguchi. I really enjoy the influence of simple materials and the way he utilizes different spatial volumes to have a unique effect while using his space. Also the connection between indoors to outdoors and the elegant gardens using rock formations, landscaping and reflecting ponds.
Also have to give a huge shout out to the guy that started it all back in the day 'IMHOTEP' who is the first known architect in history. He created some well known pyramid shaped buildings in the Egyptian desert.
Also a big fan of other architects, Renzo Piano, Rem Koolhaas and MOSTLY all of the other architects that I have had the pleasure of working with.
Getting to work w/ some very creative, unique and talented individuals. It's enjoyable working with those individuals to create something out of nothing really, that something being incredible architecture that has a profound impact on the end users that will probably be around for the next few generations of our society to appreciate.
Growing up I was always intrigued by all of the construction that was happening in my neighborhood. I would often walk and play on the the jobsite with my friends. Mainly I was trying to understand the process of how all the materials worked together to create a structure. At some point we wound up building our own house and I got to help in the construction of it..super cool. This in a way set off my journey of taking it to the next level to get into architecture.
Fast forward many years…I then worked doing random tasks at a residential firm in my hometown (Vero Beach, Fl). I really enjoyed learning the process along w/ going on site visits and picking up endless amounts of redlines.
This all inspired the next step to move to New York City to go to architecture school (cuz where else to go study and be immersed by incredible architecture + culture). I lived, worked, and ate a ton of amazing pizza in the NYC area for 17 years.
After gaining a literal ton from eating pizza nonstop, we decided a more balanced farm to table diet would help me shed some of the fat. Hence the decision to move to California where there are copious amounts of healthy food options and land for me to graze next to the cows. J/K…..California was just the next step for us for a more fulfilling lifestyle (in our opinion) with year round sun, endless outdoor opportunities and mostly to get away from the hustle bustle of the daily gauntlet of the city life.
