Akira

Akira is an innovative Sushi Restaurant located in the Seabright neighborhood of Santa Cruz California. For Akira's second location, they wanted a space that reflects the quality and effort that is put into their food everyday. Fuse was hired to turn that goal into a reality, with a space that is now an instant hit on the south side of town. One of the major architectural features, the geometric wall, was designed to be visually textured yet remain smooth to the touch. Made from Olive Burl, it has enough movement to grab your attention but not detract from the great food. The contrasting steel was implemented to reflect Akira's goal: precision, detail, and quality.
