Miramar at the Wharf

It is very rare to have a ground (Wharf deck) up building on the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf so when we were approached by our restrauntuer client to help him design a new restaurant we jumped at the chance. This will be the first new building constructed on the Wharf since the 1980's. The program is to create a restaurant that is one cohesive building yet allows the clientel to have varying experiences in food, views, and entertainment. The design allows for views to the famed Steamer Lane as well as to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The restuarant has a ocean view demonstration kitchen that focuses on the preparation of food with the element of the fire cooking, there is also a separate Oyster Bar for casual to go or dine in with outdoor bar seating, there is a chowder bar where it can be customized to the clients liking, and upstairs there is a bar, indoor and outdoor dining and entertainment. The goal was to create a design the is forward thinking yet respects the history of the Wharf and Santa Cruz while encouraging interaction with the community and the ocean and Wharf environment.
