Woodpecker

Local modern architect George Foy originally designed this home for our client in the 70s. Over the years, woodpeckers created a mess of this house by pecking holes in the siding and creating homes for other birds. The constant noise brought the clients into our office to see if we could find a solution to stop the woodpeckers from taking over, and give the original design a new life. We clad the house in Corten steel and reconfigured spaces and geometries to work well with the new siding and bring areas up to current standard. The result is a home that fits well within the surrounding redwood forest, enhances George Foy’s original design intent, and allows our clients a good night's rest.
